Dr Tejal Shah is the Director of Responsible Innovation in the £15 million National Edge AI Hub, UK, which is set to transform AI-driven decision-making at the edge, ensuring resilient, secure, and ethical AI adoption across critical domains such as healthcare, secure energy, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure. She is the Director of Education and Assistant Professor at Newcastle University’s School of Computing dedicated to shaping the future of AI education in responsible and impactful ways. A passionate advocate for industryintegrated learning, she has championed degree apprenticeship programmes and spearheaded digital health initiatives, equipping professionals with the skills needed for an AI-powered future. Her research lies at the intersection of knowledge representation, reasoning, and responsible AI-driven decision-making addressing real-world challenges from enhancing cybersecurity in autonomous vehicle infrastructure to smart building intelligence and sustainable circular economies. Her work has been published in highly respected venues including CORE A and A* journals and conferences such as AAAI, FGCS, JAMIA, and ACM Computing Surveys among others. She has co-edited a special issue for the Journal of Semantic Web, has been a technical programme committee member for MoMM, INIS, and IoTCA (ICDCS), and serves as a reviewer for several journals and conferences in the fields of computing, AI, and health. Dr Shah is a Fellow of the British Computing Society (FBCS) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
